Posting to social media should be fun for you, the business owner or social media manager, and the customer! Your followers don’t want to see posts that tell them what to do, like eat here, order this, we have great food and service. They want to be heard and learn more about your business in a relatable or relevant way.
To inspire you to think outside of the box, here are 5 fun and engaging posts I’ve written recently for O’Neill’s Grill.
5 fun and engaging Facebook post ideas:
- Ask your followers to show how they feel in general or about something in particular, like the freakin’ weekend – using a GIF. They can use the GIF tool in Facebook comments to browse GIFs and share one as a reply. Don’t forget to slide in a link to your menu or online ordering page to remind them that if they’re feeling hungry, they can order from you.
2. Set up a poll to engage your customers on a topic they care about. The customers of O’Neill’s Grill love sports, so we asked them to predict the outcome of the Super Bowl. You could ask them to vote on different menu items or beers you sell, or event ideas. A poll is a great way to get feedback or just take a pulse on how many people are paying attention to your posts. We had 60 votes on this poll, which is pretty good!
3. Play a game! I created this image, inspired by other “pick 3” images circling the Internet, featuring food from O’Neill’s Grill. Our page’s followers loved commenting to let us know which items they would keep if they were limited to only three. It’s a fun game! You can create your own image like this using a free account at canva.com.
4. Post an infographic (a photo with information on it like stats or descriptions) and ask a question related to the photo. In this example, I found an infographic of all the different types of french fries. Since O’Neill’s Grill has waffle fries on its menu, this is relevant. Our followers were quick to reply with their opinions.
5. Use photos of your food or beer to start conversation. In this example, I ask our customers which menu item is the best. Super fans emerge when you ask them to vote on your menu items. This is a great way to get comments by people who are BIG fans of whatever food you pictured. It can inspire others to visit your restaurant and try it. I wish there were an easy way to measure how many people visited the restaurant after seeing this post. For now, I’ll count this as a great brand awareness building post.
